Girls Camp
Hi everyone! I literally just got home from a week at girls camp and it was amazing!! This was my 2nd year so it definitely was a lot easier since I've done it before. This year our theme was Brave like the movie! We did so many fun things like do super fun crafts, do lots of camp songs, and just bond together! One of my favorite things we did was help build a rock wall on a trail up there. Everyone put on their work gloves and we started moving rocks from one place to the other. We decided to split up into two assembly lines and passed rocks to each other down the line. We started singing songs like I am a Child of God and As Sisters in Zion. When we were finished, one of the priesthood holders who was in charge of the service project said, "I expected for everyone to get only half of the rocks moved, but you guys moved all the rocks!" I thought that it was so great that all of us young women came together to get a job done and it made me realize that we can make a difference in the world if we all work together. I also got to know many people a lot better. There was this one 2nd year who got to come up to camp this year and she had some mental problems. But she was one of the sweetest girls that I have ever met! She always gave people hugs and she always said hi to everyone. One of the days at camp she wrote a song about being brave and she got to sing it in front of everybody and I almost started crying because I felt the spirit so strongly. Today at camp she went around with her notebook and gave everyone her autograph. She's one of those girls that I am really going to miss a lot. It was so great to hear everyone's testimony during testimony meeting! Everyone had totally different perspectives on life and I just loved hearing what they all had to say! I actually got up enough courage to go up and share my testimony. I made it short because other people wanted to go up after me but in my short little testimony I said that I know this church is true. I know it for myself and I hope you all know it too. On testimony night, the bishopric from all the wards came up to camp and they all came wearing kilts! My dad just so happens to be second counselor in my ward's bishopric so it was super funny to see him wearing what looked like a skirt! My dad had gone up to our cabin this morning but when I came home today, I found a note on the counter from my dad and it said, "Dear Josette, Welcome home! You survived another year at girls camp! I hope you had a swohiggety sweet time. We missed you! I noticed that our family was not the same without you. I was glad to be able to come up to see a little bit of what it was all about. I was proud of you for bearing your testimony. It was the highlight of my week. I love you! Love, Dad" I just loved that so so much! It was such a great thing to come home to! I hope you all are going to your girls camp or had fun going!
